We are a complete retail Dog Supply Store, as well as a Pet Groomer, a Dog Trainer, a Self-Serve Pet Wash, and a distributor for Pet Wash Systems.
Alpha-Dog Pet Center is excited about bringing quality pet-related products and services to Amherst, Ohio! My name is Chip Ingersoll, owner, and operator of Alpha-Dog Pet Centers, LLC. Owning my own small business here in Amherst is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. I was born & raised in Amherst, went to Amherst Schools, and aside from a few brief years living away from the area, I have been a life-long resident of Amherst. My grandparents owned a small camera store here in Amherst (Parke Camera – 145 Parke Ave.) from the mid-1970′s to the late-1990′s. While growing up, helping at their store, I learned the value of small business and the rewards and gratification of helping to serve our community. We are happy that we can bring quality pet supplies and other merchandise here to our hometown.
The idea for Alpha-Dog Pet Center really began with my “alpha-dog”, a rescued American Pitbull Terrier-Mix, named ALEX. You may recognize Alex from seeing her around town or on Facebook (facebook.com/TherapyDogAlex). She is a certified Therapy Dog and is also R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dog) certified. Although I have always loved dogs and had several while growing up at home, Alex has taught us more than we ever thought we could know about dogs, their individual personalities, and what a benefit they are to their humans (and to others) in so many ways! More recently, we rescued BELLA, a shy Boxer-Pitbull Mix, who has become a wonderful addition to our family and has also become a certified Therapy Dog and R.E.A.D. dog, as well (facebook.com/TherapyDogBella).
In 2015, we added another addition to our canine-family when we rescued Sprite, who was a 4 month-old Italian Greyhound puppy. Although only 11 pounds, Sprite fits in great with the bigger dogs, and also became a Therapy Dog & R.E.A.D. dog in late-2015. In addition to our dogs, we also live with several cats, so we think they’re pretty special, too!!! Through the work we do with our dogs and our clients’ dogs, we continue to learn and grow in our knowledge and hope to use this knowledge and experience to bring that “personal touch” to our customers (and their owners). Pets are part of the family— often a very big part, and we want to help you treat your dog or cat like family, with top-notch products and services to meet your family’s needs.
Our Alpha-Dog Pet Center retail pet supply store specializes mostly in products for dogs, with a growing amount of products for cats and limited items for other small animals. We carry high-quality items such as Dog/Cat Food, Treats, Toys. Collars/Leashes, Pet Clothing, Training Supplies, Outdoor Gear for Dogs (Backpacks, Life Jackets, etc.) Service/Therapy Dog Equipment, and more! Because we are a small business and wish to support other local small businesses, we have consignment agreements with several local craftsmen and vendors, who supply locally-made Toys, Treats, Clothing, and Novelty/Specialty Items. While we don’t have as much space as some larger stores, we have access to the same distributors… So, if you are looking for something and don’t see it, ASK US!!! We can probably special-order it just for you!!!
A particular highlight of our location is our unique, Self-Serve Pet Wash station, which is OPEN 24-HOURS for your convenience. We are also proud to be co-located with Lydia’s Pet Grooming, owned and operated by Lydia Fox, a certified dog groomer with over 10 years’ experience! (mypetsalon.biz) In addition to full-service Pet Grooming, we are happy to offer Dog Training programs here at our location. New classes are starting every month! Our retail store opened its doors on December 7th, 2013 and is open Tuesday through Saturday each week. Please keep your eye on our website’s News-Blog, our Facebook page, and follow us on Twitter & Google+ for updates on our store hours, specials, events, promotions, and other offers. We look forward to serving all of your dog’s (or cat’s) needs!!!
